A bunch of friends and I recently decided to do something different. Rowe had suggested a picnic..and we finally embarked on the idea to have a picnic in Sentosa. Despite the sky looking a little threatening and rain earlier that morning, Sentosa was still pretty crowded. Instead of parking at Siloso Beach, we parked at the Ferry Terminal.

We were really reluctant to leave... it didn't feel like we had enough of BKK. After reaching Changi Airport, we faced the expensive food court food again for dinner..and discussed when we should next head back to Bangkok. (pst: We had already booked tickets to return there over New Years..thats how much we enjoyed the trip!)

That night after Suan Lum, we were dead-tired from all the walking in the past 2 days. We showered and headed out for foot reflex in the street by the hotel. It was nearly 2am by the time we were done and instead of supper, we decided to call it a night. The next morning, we had fish ball noodles for breakfast again and then headed to MBK to just comb the shops for a final time. We had our last BKK meal at Siam Paragon... a table full of food..it looked like we weren't gonna be eating for the next few meals. We rushed back to the hotel, and then headed reluctantly went to the airport.

After dinner, we headed to Suan Lum to walk the night market.. I bought more earrings..Nick bought snacks and Bern bought.... (take a ride in my car, and you may spot it..though u'd least expect it) haha.

That afternoon, we headed back to the shopping district.... walked more shopping centres including Central World. Though lots of shops were not open yet, we found Bern's reason to come back to BKK in the next few months...an Arsenal shop. That evening, we had steamboat for dinner at MK... super value-for-money meal.

Bern and I left a day before Nick. On the first day, after arriving and checking into Hotel Asia Bangkok, we headed to Bern's office in BKK. After that, we went back to the hotel to change and waited to be picked up for a dinner cruise along the Chaopraya River, a birthday treat from Bern's manager.

Without objections, and in fact with enthusiasm, we headed to Geylang for a durian escapade. Somehow or other, I managed to find my way there, and Amanda managed to identify the store her grandma patronises.

I had a belated birthday celebrations with Amanda, Huiyi an Daffy at Ember, the restaurant at Hotel 1929, which is located at Keong Siak St. Its a nice, small cosy hotel with food that taste pretty good, but do make reservations in advance as apparently they only have one seating per night and it was in fact full house when we were that that night.

I'm BACK to blogging..haha.. I wonder for how long... After not blogging for so long, I have a problem: I forgot my username and password so the only way i can log in is through picasa which has it saved.

Its nice to see that pple are still coming by my blog, dropping me an occasional suprise msg. Maybe thats whats edging me to write something.

Anyway, since my last posts, think i have loads of photos to post and as much as i can recall... maybe some events to write about...but thats if i can remember what happened.

i'm back to using Hello to post my photos on the blog. At least my photos and text don't get jumbled.

I spent last friday evening watching GREESE with Amanda and Beatrice. Intended to satisfy my Baker's Inn vongole pasta craving before heading to indoor stadium but got held back in the office for a last minute meeting. By the time i met them at raffles city, we figured it was time for us to grab a cab. The cab queue was loonngg... so we decided to call a cab, and i headed downstairs to MOS burger to grab a rice burger. After holding for while (lesson learnt: be patient, even if they tell you they don't have a cab to dispatch, just tell them you'd rather hold), we got a cab. Turned out the cab was a merc cab.. haha.. a comfortable journey to indoor stadium. Only thing..Beat was fretting about her wallet that she realised she lost in school.

We got there just in time. Stadium seats that were allocated for sale were mostly filled. The show was good but as i mentioned in my last post, think the atmosphere was missing. After the show, we were a little "lost", not knowing where to grab a cab. We thought about walking to Kallang macs to get some fries but didn't really know how far it was. Anyway, seeing the amount of pple on their phones waiting for cabs, we decided to walk towards Mcs, or at least what we thought was macs..haha. After walking through a newly tarred car park, we reach "macs" only to find that it was another building, and macs was in fact further. After crossing the road (No pavements on the other side!), we walked along the grass for awhile, and by our luck, an available cab came driving by. :) haha

Played tennis on Saturday night.. during the day had to work and had class. We played a new format.. a group challenge (losing stake: loser pays for the new balls). After dividing ourselves into 2 groups, we put up a lineup of 4 singles (2 men, 2 women), and 9 doubles (3 ladies, 3 men, 3 mixed). It was a close competition, with our last mixed doubles being the deciding match. It reminded me so much of IVP, and Secondary school nationals. The cheering (or at least the few of us who were so hyped up..haha), the stupid mistakes you make under stress, the intensity of the match and last but not least, playing being accountable for your game to your team. It was fun! After that, we headed for our usual prata and teh before heading home.

Spent most of sunday hibernating. Bern and I were supposed to be studying for our exams which are round the corner..but the weather (it was raining) and the lack of sleep from the previous night won the angel vs devil against our books. haha... We brought Monty for grooming at tt.. the boy was so manja after grooming... that he actually crawled up to my lap and lied down while i was playing xbox, just like the other boy.. who had insisted on a "creative nap" next to me..haha..

We headed to junction 8 and to check out the gss sale in the evening. Didn't manage to buy any clothes as I hoped for. Ended up buying small stuff like pouches from muji (i'm a sucker for pouches), body shop shower gel (was on offer!) and saline solution only.

Well..that was my weekend. I didn't start monday off very well cos' i had to start work early which meant I have to wake up earlier (i'm not a morning person), rushed out to the main rd to grab a cab but was greeted by a terrible jam and an ambulance and police car across the road cos' of a motorcycle accident. The traffic didn't move for a good 15 min...and I didn't get a cab till 30 min later.. (i.e. I'm late for work), got caught in more jams along bukit timah and finally reached work about 15 min late. ( an hour after I left the house!). Starting work at 9am is just not time efficient. You wake up 1 hour 30 min earlier to reach work half hour earlier... and to vex yourself in the 9am peak hour traffic, spend more on taxi fare... and reach work grumpy. sigh...

Amanda, Beat and myself watched GREESE last Friday @ Indoor Stadium. It was a good show.. only I felt that the stadium was a little too big which made the sound very diffused and atmosphere was not exactly hyped up. Esplanade would have been a better location.

Continueing from my last entry, had a extension to my plans for the evening.

Well, Gerald and I decided on Golden Mile for steamboat and chicken rice. Bern came by to pick Justin and myself up and we headed down to Golden Mile to meet Gerald and Fiona.

Prior to leaving, I found out that I had missed a whole load of messages earlier in the morning cos' of my stupid mistake. I didn't elaborate on what I did when I was woken up in shock in my last entry. Well, cos' my grandma got me up in such a shock, I reached for my phone to check what time it was. To cut things short, I didn't realise my phone was flat cos' I had not charged it after getting home at 5+am. I panicked, thinking something was wrong with it, and took out the battery.. in my "blurness", I pressed the reset button, which ended up doing a hard reset (i.e. total reset) of the phone. ERGH! the problems with technology. Anyway, the mistake made me lose all my contact, my appointments, the files stored in phone memory, and of course the messaged and calls I missed in the morning. sigh...

Anyway, coming bk to what I missed. At last min, our china couterpart had informed us that a china student was arriving at 9+pm, and I needed to pick her up. Anyway, it was already 8+, cos' I had not replied all earlier messages and missed calls. After loads of calls and smses, we arranged for my colleague to pick her up instead. BUT her flight was delayed so since it was my responsibility, I picked her up. Bern was an angel and offered to accompany me :) He took a picture of me looking like an idiot, holding one of those signs with the names on it and not knowing how th person she is picking up looked like.

We checked her into her hotel, got her her calling card..and by the time I reached home it was 2+... yes..another late night...

Anyway, these 2 days have been really busy at work for me. In and out of meetings, shuttling the china student around... etc etc...

I started yesterday with a meeting in the morning with Cale and Martin. It was a very productive meeting..and Martin treated us to lunch after that.

I had class after that... was feeling very sian and sleepy at that point in time..but I think I had missed enough lessons (1 for KL, and 1 last week) so I dragged myself to class.

After class, I had dinner with my family. Belated mothers' day dinner. Was kinda reluctant to go cos' Saturday nights are my tennis nights, but I didn't have much choice. Had Indian food at Liang Court.

I had intended to go home to pick up my tennis stuff after dinner, with the hopes that I could at least make it in time to play a game or 2 but by the time dinner was over, I figured I'd give it a pass. Bern and I headed down anyway and he managed to play 2 games.

We had been toying with the idea of watching a midnight Da Vinci Code show since mid-week, but nothing had been fixed as we didn't know who'd be keen on watching. After using the DIAL-UP (manz! thats ancient..hehe...), we kinda narrowed it down to watching at Lido, Cathay's shows were fully booked..and so were GVs..the only shows I could find were 2.30 at Lido or later at Cathay. We headed over to Jo's and Jon's place to make the bookings and for everyone to take a shower, picked up my cousin on the way to town, dropped by Adam for supper/drinks, and made our way to Lido.

Da Vinci Code... I haven't read the book and thus didn't know what to expect from the show. Twist after twist, I started to grasp what was going on only towards the end of the show. Did feel it was a little predictable and towards the end, parts of the ending felt like it was in to just drag the show on.

By the time Justin and I reached home, it was nearly 5.30am... we creeped into my grandparents room to wash up, hoping they won't be awake... and then headed to bed.

This morning, by the time I got out of bed, it was 3PM!!! Got a shock when my grandma woke me up bugging me to ask when I was gonna bring Justin out.. and kept insisting that if i didn't get up now she would bring him out herself. Bern wasn't well..so it was just Justin and I. We were gonna head to town, he wanted to see the new Marina Sq and then head to centrepoint to buy some kueh kueh and rojak paste for him to bring bk to the states.

I;m now waiting for Bern to come pick us up to meet Gerald at Goldenmile for dinner.

Finally found a presentable skin! Leave me your comments...

I met up with Amanda yesterday. We bought our tickets for Greese (YEAH! gonna watch the musical!) then after tt walked over to Marina Square.

Walked around.. I tried to shop for clothes. Realise I'm running out of stuff to wear! Wanted to buy some tops, tried a few..but nothing seemed to look nice. I was convinced it was the shops..but Amanda thought it was just me. haha.. bought 1 cotton t from warehouse in the end.

After buying famous amos, we planned to head to vis-a-vis at chun tin rd but since it was nearly 9, we figured it was a better bet to head to au petit salut at chip bee gardens. I was really craving for escargots.. and thus was more than glad to see it on the menu.

I had my escargots and a cod fish. Quite yummy... but i did realise the portions were pretty small..Amanda had ravioli and it came with only 3 raviolis! .. We walked over to Haagen Daz for ice cream, then bought my cousin his dinner and then headed home.

We gathered at Waterfront tennis at about 3pm on Friday afternoon. We boarded the bus, only to find "economy class seats". Luckily, we got a change in bus after the m'sian checkpoints into a bus with more comfortable seats.

Unfortunate me..was stuck on the bus trying to finish my assingment which happened to be due that very day. I had high hopes of myself completing it on the bus ride there or even that night. (you can start taking your bets here as to whether I completed it)
We reached Holiday Villa, Subang at about 8pm and gathered back for dinner at about 9pm.

Our first meal in Subang... we thought we'd have many more meals of malay food.. but we explored other options this trip. I'll remember Joleen and I "savouring" our food while the others sat there and had a good time making fun of us... Uncle Ivan's Mutton Soup.
On the first night, we were still full of energy. We gathered in Joleen's and Ying's room, with our chips, drinks, fruits, music players and laptop(s). It was a hilarious nights.

We had bern's busking act (what does this pic remind you of..think wooden clogs, harmonica and juggling balls)

and jon's grooving to watever music that was played.

Then we had Uncle Ivan who kept us laughing through the night as we "introduced" him to the various music of "our time", and tried to recollect music of "his time".
We retired to our rooms at about 3.30am. We had another 2 days of tennis ahead of us.
The next day, we played our mens and ladies doubles round robin matches. I played 2 matches with my partner Peggy. It was the first time we'd met, so I hoped our playing styles would fit alright. We played 2 matches on the first day, playing 1 SCGS pairs and 1 japanese pair. We got along great.. winning all 2 matches that day. Rain finally came down on us at about 7pm and we had to call it a day.

After a nice shower, we headed for japanese food at the nearby row of restaurants.

The unfortunate thing that happened this trip was that victor sprained his ankle during the warm-up of their first match. It was really a waste that he could not play the rest of the trip.

That night, we gathered back in jon's and uncle ivan's room and then subsequently moved to ying's and joleen's room, with the intention to watch ice age 2. However, ying and I conveniently fell asleep while the rest of them chat till about 12+ before deciding we had to retire to bed or we wouldn't be able gather at 8am the next morning.

The guys went off to another location on Sunday morning to complete their round robin matches while the ladies stayed at holiday villa to complete our matches. Peggy and I got trashed by a m'sian pair 9-1 that morning, but won the other SCGS pair. After lunch, we continued to play our knock-out rounds. Our first round was against Ying and Joleen and then proceeded to the quarters, where we got a walkover. In the semis, we met another m'sian pair who also gave us a whipping. The 2 of us were pretty happy with the semi-final match despite the lousy score and we enjoyed the matches we played together. At least we each won a little cash and a medal for our efforts this competition.

In the evening, I partnered Bern to play a mixed doubles. We had a good match...we were playing the 2nd seed of the mixed doubles competition. Quite obviously we didn't do too well, even though we played pretty well. That pair eventually went on the win the tournament...oh well.. haha..

That night.. we all went to Restaurant Windmill for our western dinner. Bern and I shared escargots, and each took a set meal. Though the meal was not as fantastic as the first time we had eaten there during our last trip, the company was great.

We went back to the hotel.. hanged around joleen and ying's room for awhile but everyone was pretty much exhausted from the long day of matches as decided to go to sleep.

On the last day, we gathered for the morning breakfast at the coffee house before Bern and I decided to join the kids who had won adidas vouchers at KL Sentral to shop at the adidas shop. Didn't find it very exciting..as there wasn't that much on display. Only had some fun trying to fit Kit Hong with some new stylish adidas tennis gear. Had lunch and experienced the m'sian train ktm trainride back to the nearest train station to the hotel.

We killed a bit of time, checked out, and then boarded our Sri Maju busses (with a grumpy driver) back to S'pore. Along the way, we got bullied by the kids.. who decided the back seats were of their liking.. the "do I cares" and the pinky fights "bringing Thaddeus home" threats or "hanging Thaddeus upside down" (wait a min.. its always Thaddeus..haha) kept us all entertained after we took our naps.

Upon returning, the few of us hitched rides home and that was the end of our Subang trip... and the beginning of the new work week...

P.s. for those who are wondering. I didn't manage to finsh the assignment but I did get an extension.

So why a new blog...I've been blogging at jhsnoopz.blogspot.com for about just over 2 years. My previous blog does hold many memories, and know I will go back every now and then to read my past entries. Sometimes I suprise myself at what I'd write, things i'd do, things i'd say...

Well, I'm gonna "start afresh" here.

Give me some time to get this up.. starting to dread school a little... losing the motivation I had before, when I first started. Think its time to really buckle down to my books and get myself psyched up again...
